Foreigners who work in Thailand without a work permit will be punished with a fine or imprisonment. A work permit allows a non-Thai citizen to work and operate a business in Thailand as a skilled professional or even as an employer. The company should arrange a non-immigrant B visa for you before the work permit application. Once you enter Thailand with a non-immigrant B visa and, within that period, you should apply for your work permit with the documents the company provided. The valid date of the work permit will be the same as your visa. You can apply for an extension of your visa after it expires.
